Supporting Royal Birmingham Conservatoire students for over 30 years
President: Professor George Caird HonFBC
Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Association (RBCA) is a subscription-based membership association which was established in 1981 by Emeritus Founder Member Peter Ward (HonFBC) as the Birmingham School of Music (BSM) Association. Formerly a registered charity, RBCA is now officially part of, and wholly administered by, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Membership is open to anybody, and members comprise alumni, current and former members of staff, parents, friends and all those wishing to support the Association's objectives.
RBCA Honorary Members
Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Association Honorary Members include Honorary Fellows, as well as those individuals on whom an Honorary Fellowship or Honorary Doctorate of Birmingham City University /Royal Birmingham Conservatoire has been conferred.
RBCA's aim, as per its original constitution, is to "advance the education of the students of Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in music, acting, and subjects related thereto". In practice, this means RBCA is able to offer advice to students and, by means of member's subscriptions, give students some financial assistance in the pursuit of their studies. Examples of such support include:
- The CBSO Learning and Participation Programme
- Awards to individual students for the purchase of instruments
RBCA jointly produces a biannual magazine with the Conservatoire, Fanfare, which members receive free of charge, and has worked with the University's Alumni Association to organise several alumni reunion events.
Membership information and how to join
Membership of RBCA enables individuals to support Conservatoire students in their education, whilst keeping abreast of the college's future developments and successes. Membership is by subscription and open to all.
