John Stowell and Alex Merritt
Alex Merritt tenor saxophone
John Stowell guitar
Will Harris bass
Eric Ford drums
A prominent figure in the US guitar world, John Stowell has lent his personal voice to work with many legends from the tradition over a 50 year career including Milt Jackson, Lionel Hampton, Art Farmer, Herb Ellis, Dave Liebman and Billy Higgins amongst others.
Following a fruitful musical collaboration with saxophonist Alex Merritt and drummer Eric Ford in 2022- John will join forces with Alex and Eric once again, with the addition of fantastic Bristol-based bassist Will Harris for this show. The group will approach standard songs, and their own original music, that features arrangements and contrafact melodies on standards, in a fresh way; with a view to reinvention and a spacious take on group narrative and interaction.
