Complete Shostakovich Preludes And Fugues
Emanuil Ivanov piano
Shostakovich wrote the Preludes and Fugues Op.87 for Tatiana Nikolayeva in Moscow 1950/51. He composed music for a society dominated by Joseph Stalin, one of the most brutal and repressive leaders the world has ever known.
Following Emanuil's career has been a thoroughly joyful experience for us all. Who can forget his progress through the rounds of the September 2019 Busoni International Piano Competition, culminating in the news that he had won it! After six years at RBC he is now in London, making a much-anticipated return to Birmingham tonight to celebrate the Dmitri Shostakovich (1906-1975) anniversary.
Running time approx. two hours and 50 minutes, including interval.
