Every term the RBC Repertory Big Band selects music from a historically significant composer or recording for a special performance in the Eastside Jazz Club.
Past performances have featured the Kansas City Suite by Benny Carter (as performed by Count Basie) and Duke Ellington's New Orleans Suite, arrangements by Oliver Nelson for Thelonious Monk, and Thad Jones for Harry James, as well as a centenary celebration of the great Sammy Nestico.
Tonight's gig celebrates the life and work of the great American saxophonist, arranger and composer Al Cohn, 100 years after his birth.
Featuring an exciting support set from the Sandbach School Big Band.
