Postgraduate Loyalty Scholarships We offer a range of scholarship opportunities for international postgraduates which you may be eligible to receive or apply for.

Please note that scholarships are only available to self-funding students.

Students are only eligible to receive ONE bursary - whichever is greater.

Postgraduate Scholarships – Non EU only

Every year we provide a number of scholarships recognising the talents of our international students, which will be applied towards the cost of your tuition fees.

All non-EU international students enrolling on a postgraduate course in September 2017 will be eligible for a scholarship of up to £2,000. This is awarded based on your academic background and will your grade will need to be the equivalent to a UK degree:

  • £2,000 if a 1st degree holder
  • £1,500 if a 2:1 degree holder
  • £1,000 if a 2:2 degree holder
  • £500 if a 3rd degree holder

The following courses are exempt from this scholarship:

  • ACCA
  • Conservatoire courses (Music and Theatre)
  • PGCE and PCET
  • Masters in Teaching and Learning/Educational Leadership (MTL/MEL)
  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses in Health

Postgraduate Loyalty Scholarships

To say thank you for your loyalty to Birmingham City University, current students will be eligible for a 20% loyalty scholarship equating up to £2,400.

The following courses are excluded from the Postgraduate Loyalty Scheme:

  • ACCA
  • Conservatoire courses (Music and Theatre)
  • PGCE and PCET
  • Masters in Teaching and Learning/Educational Leadership (MTL/MEL)
  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses in Health

The scholarship only applies if you are taking a named award. If you are taking one or more modules for CPD purposes that do not lead to a named award you will not be eligible.

Vice-Chancellor International Scholarships

The Vice-Chancellor International Scholarship is worth £5,000 and is awarded based on your academic merit, previous qualifications and your ambition to make a significant contribution to your chosen career field.

Status: Closed for September 2017


Prompt Payment Bursary

If you pay your tuition fees in full before travelling to, or during your enrolment in the UK, you will be entitled to a £300 prompt payment discount.

This discount applies to the amount you owe after any scholarships or bursaries have been deducted from your tuition fee.

The following courses are exempt from this scholarship:

Other postgraduate scholarships

There are other postgraduate study awards offered through the British Government which you may be eligible for:

British Chevening Scholarships

The British Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations.

The Scholarships are awarded to outstanding scholars with leadership potential, typically for a one-year Masters degree.

Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowships Plan

If you’re from a Commonwealth country or British dependent territory, you may be eligible for a Commonwealth Scholarship. Grants are for one to three years and usually cover the costs of travel, tuition fees and living expenses.

These are funded by the Department for International Development and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and are awarded for postgraduate study and research.
