Why choosing Birmingham City University can make a real difference to your future:

1

Investing in your future

Although we have a rich heritage, we’re constantly investing in improvements to our facilities, ensuring that you benefit from a state-of-the-art learning environment. Our £260 million investment programme includes the new £61 million Parkside Building at our City Centre Campus, with construction on a second new building currently under way, and plans for a new Conservatoire in the pipeline.

2

Increasing your employability

Our commitment to developing graduates with the skills and experience employers need means that within six months of graduating, 90 per cent of undergraduate students are in employment or further study (DLHE survey 2012/13). Whatever subjects you choose, we focus on giving you up-to-date knowledge and real-world experience, so you’ll be ready to launch into your chosen career. 3

Learn from the best

From the UK's leading criminologist to a former director of top pub and restaurant operator Mitchells & Butlers, our teaching staff come from and maintain links with industry, ensuring you benefit from their knowledge and insight. We are also ranked sixth out of 130 institutions for student teaching time (Daily Telegraph course finder) and our schools and courses regularly rank highly in national league tables.

Innovative teaching

We’ve invested in innovative student support, such as groundbreaking mobile learning and teaching research which brings our courses to life, including the Virtual Case Creator - a pioneering online simulation tool for Health students; the School of Law's Virtual Solicitors' Office; and the School of Education's virtual school. Our online learning site, Moodle, provides 24-hour access to resources and flexible approaches to learning.

7

Working in partnership

We work with our students to ensure we are meeting your needs and aspirations at all times. In 2010, we received a prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) award for ‘Outstanding Student Support’ for a unique project with our Students’ Union partnering academic staff with students to make recommendations on future teaching. Find out what our students said about us in the National Student Survey.

8

Professional relevance

We pride ourselves on the range of professional accreditations - almost 40 at the last count - and the number of successful industry partnerships we have. Professional bodies accrediting our courses include the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, British Psychological Society, Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, Health and Care Professions Council and Royal Institute of British Architects.
