Escape! - A two part Tribute to Philip Glass
Part I - Gerard Cousins guitar
Part II - Giusto Di Lallo piano
Candlelight Concert
Join us for an unforgettable evening dedicated to Philip Glass, the pioneering composer whose hauntingly beautiful compositions continue to inspire audiences worldwide. This special tribute concert features two exceptional musicians, each bringing their unique voice to Glass's timeless works, creating a captivating journey through some of Philip Glass’s most iconic compositions.
Gerard Cousins has earned a unique place in contemporary classical music through his innovative transcriptions of Philip Glass’s piano and orchestral works, reimagined masterfully for solo classical guitar. His albums Escape and The Poet Acts, both critically and publicly celebrated, showcase how the quiet voice of a guitar can illuminate the rhythmic nuance, emotional depth and beauty of Glass’s music.
Renowned for his innovative approach that bridges genres and cultures, Giusto Di Lallo is a versatile and eclectic pianist and composer. His renditions of Philip Glass’s iconic piano repertoire offer a rare combination: rigorous fidelity to the composer’s written intentions, paired with expressive subtlety and musical depth. His album Philip Glass - Piano Etudes - 10th Anniversary Special Edition has been described as “a most rewarding album” (Classical Explorer) and “a welcome addition to the repertoire.” (Gramophone)
This two-part concert promises to be a compelling exploration of Philip Glass’s innovative soundscapes. Whether you are a long-time admirer or new to his music, this concert will appeal to lovers of classical, contemporary, and experimental music alike.
