Preventing and dealing with child abuse was the focus of a regional conference held at Birmingham City University.
In conjunction with West Midlands Police, more than 60 police, practitioners, academics and experts in the field attended the one-day event which included a programme of highly prominent speakers.
Chaired by the country's leading criminologist and Birmingham City University academic Professor David Wilson, the conference addressed a number of key issues surrounding child abuse issues, including managing child abuse offenders.
Nick Howe, Senior Lecturer in Criminal Investigation at Birmingham City University, said: "The University has hosted the event on behalf of the West Midlands Police with whom we are developing growing professional relationships. The field of child abuse is clearly of interest to academics and practitioners.
"The conference has presented a wonderful opportunity for us to profile the University and its facilities. Once more the hidden agenda will be to encourage officers and police staff to come to Birmingham City University to further their professional development by attending our various courses."
Birmingham City University is currently at the forefront in offering Criminal Investigation as a degree course, due to be launched later this month.
