Pathways for young musicians
We believe all young people should have access to high quality music provision and be able to progress on their musical journeys if they wish to. We deliver a range of programmes designed to provide sustainable pathways and inspirational opportunities for young musicians across the UK.
Below is a selection of our regular opportunities for young musicians. Our programmes evolve and adapt in response to the needs of young musicians and developments in the sector.
Our SoundLab programme are centres for creative music-making for 11-18 year olds. We support young musicians to make the music they want to make, in the way they want to make it. The sessions are delivered by experienced professional facilitators, supported by RBC students.
RBC Young Singers is part of our Opera Outreach programme funded by the Linbury Trust. Young people on the programme are able to access bespoke workshops, performances and coaching sessions, as well as exciting performance opportunities.
Our LEAP (Learning and Participation) Ensemble regularly goes out to workshop and perform side-by-side with young musicians across the UK. Young people have the opportunity to be coached by RBC staff and students in an ensemble setting, usually culminating in an exciting shared performance. The LEAP Youth Ensemble for 12-18 year olds, brings together groups of young musicians from across the country to enjoy making music together.
Our Junior RBC supports young musicians to achieve their potential through high quality instrumental and ensemble sessions. Bursaries are available to support young musicians from low-income families.
