Jazz Gala: Celebrating Women in Jazz

This term our traditional Jazz Gala “sign off” has a special focus on female participation in jazz and includes some exciting staff and external guests. The ever-popular student ensemble of RBC Salsa Orchestra rounds off the core of the programme of top female professional artists, well recognized as international performers and major contributors to the wider creative jazz scene.

Featured artists:
Rebecca Nash piano
Sara Colman voice
Rachael Cohen alto saxophone
Amy Coates bass

Mainly in our Eastside Jazz Club but also spilling over to the Foyer Stage, we are sure you will agree that the programme adds up to being inspiring and entertaining in equal measure. We hope you can come and join us for what promises to be a great evening of improvised music.

In Eastside Jazz Club
6.30pm Impromptu Standards Session:
Playing together in this formation for the first time, Rebecca Nash, Sara Colman, Rachael Cohen and Amy Coates are joined by current RBC student Isla Hutchens on drums to present a set of their choice of well known jazz standards.

This much recorded and toured duo render a short set of original compositions and collaborations.

7.45pm - Isla Hutchens's Jam session
Isla invites fellow musicians to come up and play with this wonderful rhythm section and share the stage with Sara Colman and Rachael Cohen.

Meanwhile on the Foyer Stage:
