Senior RBC Jazz student Owen Nugent on drums

Jazz Senior Student Platforms

Three senior students lead their bands in consecutive half-hour sets of contemporary jazz. Their brief is to present their own choice of personnel and repertoire, so you can expect a broad range of approaches and styles. It’s the perfect way to look in on what the next generation of jazz musicians are inspired by.

The band leaders are:
Poppy Baker
Kathryn Schultz
Owen Nugent

Owen Nugent Quartet

Owen Nugent drums
Joshua Bailey piano
Aeden Leng guitar
Casper Hamilton double bass

A quartet playing a mix of modal and post bop jazz centred around the 1968 Herbie Hancock classic Speak like a child.

Expect high octane swing as well as soulful guitar-led melodies.

Running time approx. one hour and 30 minutes
