RBC’s Learning and Participation (LEAP) Ensemble has launched its 10th year anniversary tour, celebrating 10 years of engaging and accessible music workshops and concerts with young musicians across the country.
Over the past 10 years, the LEAP Ensemble has engaged with more than 46,000 young musicians across 25 areas of the UK.
Formed of students, alumni and staff, the LEAP Ensemble has provided more than 450 students with the opportunity to develop their pedagogical skills, many of whom go on to work in the wider music education sector as part of their portfolio careers.
The Ensemble has had a busy start to 2026, working alongside 150 of the most talented young musicians at Northampton Music and Performing Arts Trust and Sutton Music Trust.

Both day-long visits incorporated a combination of warm-up games, sectional and orchestra rehearsals, culminating in a sharing event for the young musician’s families and friends.
The RBC LEAP Ensemble explored music across a variety of styles and genres, including Europe’s Final Countdown,Bizet’s Toreador and Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill.
Positive feedback gathered from both days was as follows:
- “We had a wonderful time working with you and your young musicians, you are all just awesome!”
- “It was great to see you and your team… your students were absolutely amazing. They worked so hard. Please pass on my congratulations and thanks.”
- “The LEAP ensemble on Sunday was amazing, and my son learnt a lot.”
Head of Learning and Participation Associate Professor Richard Shrewsbury said: “RBC LEAP Ensemble prides itself on delivering engaging and accessible performances and workshops for young musicians, encouraging them to continue on their musical journeys and opening up pathways into Higher Education in music.
