Elizabeth Harrison

Elizabeth studied her midwifery degree at Northumbria University, qualifying as a registered midwife in 2015. She completed her preceptorship training at the University Hospital of North Durham. Here she worked as a rotational midwife, consolidating her skills and gaining her band 6 registration in 2016.

Elizabeth has an interest in both community midwifery care and the student experience in higher education. Following her preceptorship, she worked as a community midwife in Bishop Auckland until moving to Birmingham in 2018. Since living in Birmingham, Elizabeth was employed as an Employability Tutor in Health and Social Care at UCB. In this role, she provided student support and sourced placement experiences across various health and social care settings. Alongside this role, Elizabeth continued her midwifery practice as a community midwife at BWH as well as completing an MA in Education and Learning.

Elizabeth is looking forward to joining the lecturing team at BCU in 2023 and supporting students through their midwifery journey. She will be teaching a variety of modules across the long and short BSc (Hons) midwifery programmes.
