Nicola worked as a Visiting Lecturer at BCU for a number of years before joining BCU full time in January 2024 as a Senior Lecturer in Primary Education. She teaches on the BA (QTS) and PGCE Primary & Early Years courses. She is also a personal development tutor and a university based tutor for associate teachers on their school based placements.

Nicola has taught in primary schools since 2000, teaching across Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. During this time, Nicola had a range of additional responsibilities including; Subject Co-ordinator for PSHE, Early Reading and Phonics, Mental Health First Aider, EVC, DSL, Phase Leader for Key Stage 1, Early Years Lead and Senior Assistant Headteacher. Throughout her teaching career, Nicola has supported teaching students and ECTs, most recently as a Lead Mentor. Nicola is passionate about ensuring children have the best start to their education and her work with children aged 0-7 has developed her expertise in this area.
