David worked as a Visiting Lecturer at BCU from November 2023 before joining BCU full time in April 2024 as a Senior Lecturer in Primary Education. He teaches on the BA (QTS) and PGCE Primary & Early Years courses whilst supporting the development and pastoral care of Associate Teachers. This is through his role as a University Tutor and Personal Development Tutor.

David has taught across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. During this time, David led several departments including Mathematics, PE, Science and Music. He maintained a strong interest in the public relations connected with the school environment and consequently led parent forums and chaired PTFA meetings. David has extended this passion further by supporting a Staffordshire based school as a link Governor.

Throughout his teaching career, David supported trainee teachers as a school-based mentor and professional mentor for the SCITT team in the East Staffs region.

David is passionate about the pastoral care of children with a particular focus on learning behaviours. This was his inspiration to write and publish a children’s self-help book in August 2022.
