Kodaly Inspired Learning
The RBC Kodály Inspired Learning programme enables RBC students, children in primary education and class teachers to explore and enjoy practical music making together.
The philosophy of Zoltan Kodály inspires music pedagogy across the world. The concepts of Kodály Inspired musicianship training are important to all musicians no matter their age and ability. RBC students are able to learn through kinaesthetic, auditory and immersive workshops, where they think about how to train their inner ear and their sense of whole-body pulse and rhythm. RBC Kodály Inspired Learning uses the voice and body as the instrument, removing technical considerations and enabling the musician to concentrate on their own intrinsic musical development.
Kodály inspired musicianship sessions form part of several pedagogy and community engagement modules at RBC and in Junior RBC.
Students have access to the RBC Primary School of Music where they can observe and explore Kodály Inspired Learning in a primary school setting. Introduction to Kodály Inspired Learning workshops are delivered in Primary Schools across the West Midlands enabling RBC students to participate and introducing class teachers to fun singing games and activities they can use in the classroom.
RBC offers a range of continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities for primary schools and instrumental teachers. If you would like to find out more about Kodály Inspired Learning and any free opportunities for your school please contact Rebecca Shrewsbury, Kodály Inspired Learning Coordinator via rbclearning@bcu.ac.uk.
