Movie poster for "The Speaking Hand," featuring the film's title in blue stylized font, a hand playing a tabla drum, and the text "A film by Sumantra Ghosal."

This two-part tribute to the maestro Zakir Hussain celebrates his enduring legacy and artistic brilliance through a special screening of the film The Speaking Hand followed by a conversation between director Sumantra Ghosal, Dayanita Singh, and other close collaborators.

The Speaking Hand traces Zakir’s rise from the by-lanes of Bombay to global fame. Through exciting performances and fascinating interviews, the film captures the magic of his fingers, his collaborations with Indian classical legends, and his mastery of the tabla. It also offers rare glimpses of Planet Drum, a breath-taking celebration of world rhythms featuring master drummers from across the globe.
