RBC Salsa Orchestra
Directed by Shanti Jayasinha
The RBC Salsa Orchestra will be returning to Eastside Jazz Club to perform a programme of uplifting Latin dance music from Cuba, Colombia, Venezuela, Puerto Rico and New York.
The band is a joint venture between the jazz and percussion departments and is led by Shanti Jayasinha, who has played with leading members of Buena Vista Social Club, Frank Emilio Flynn, Adalberto Santiago, Henry Fiol and has been a stalwart of the UK Salsa scene for 30 years.
This time the Salsa Orchestra are ably supported by RBC Youth Jazz Orchestra, directed by Head of Jazz Jeremy Price and Alicia Gardener-Trejo from RBC Learning and Participation department. This is the inaugural gig for this newly formed ensemble, which features some of the best young jazz players from our associate music hubs and jazz education networks. They will play the first set for around 45minutes starting at 6.30pm before handing over to RBC Salsa Orchestra.
Running time approx. two hours
