Mike Williams Quartet
Mike Williams is one of the UK’s most significant alto saxophonists and a highly revered teacher. Many graduates of Royal Birmingham Conservatoire’s Jazz courses site lessons with Mike as among their most significant landmarks on their journey to becoming a professional jazz musician. The majority of Mike’s professional life is pedagogical, and so these rare outings in performance mode are often packed to capacity with Mike’s former pupils and these events never disappoint. Be sure to book in advance.
Mike’s performance career includes close musical collaborations with Simon Purcell, Ricardo Dos Santos, Kjell Berglund and Hans Koller in addition to leading his own bands.
Mike has also worked with Gareth Williams, Kate Williams, the London Jazz Orchestra, Burtil Stranberg, Mark Edwards, Neil Yates, Gareth Locrane, Simon Thorpe Octet, Paul Edmonds, Colin Oxley Quintet, Ceri Evans Sextet and recorded with the Dedication Orchestra and Us3.
Running time approx. two hours and 30 minutes
