Creative Dialogues Across the Senses: Contemporary ‘Elegant Gathering’ in an Image Garden

This project invites doctoral researchers from different departments to take part in an interactive workshop that brings together images, music and movement. The project involves a Chinese garden-inspired image-based installation as the site for a contemporary yaji, elegant gatherings of ancient Chinese literati who met in gardens to compose poetry and enjoy paintings.

Here, the contemporary yaji will be workshops exploring how images, music, and movement can inspire one another to create a multi-sensory art practice. The event will be held on campus as a creative gathering, where PGRs from different departments can meet, experiment and perform together in a relaxed and supportive setting.
