Alena Walentin: Duet Recital with Michael Cox
Alena Walentin is an Altus Artist and winner of 26 awards and prizes with a versatile international career as a soloist, chamber musician, arranger, Artistic leader and guest Principal flute with leading orchestras such as the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, National Orchestra of Sweden, Iceland Symphony Orchestra, BBC NOW and BBC SSO, The Philharmonia, Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra and others.
Her numerous prizes and awards include, double prize-winner of the International Carl Nielsen’s Chamber Music Competition with her wind quintet Atéa. As a soloist, she has given recitals in much of Europe, Canada, USA, and Asia, and had her debut album chosen as an Album of the Week by the Danish National Radio.
She also serves as an International judge in flute competitions such as Young Artist of the National Flute Association (USA), British Flute Society competition (UK), Kamermuziek Concours Gelre (The Netherlands), International Music Competition VŠMU (Slovakia), II Brussels International Music Competition (Belgium) and Singapore Festival Flute Competition (Singapore).
Alena has been a member of the Verbier Music Festival (Switzerland) for a number of years as an artist and teacher. With her great passion for sharing her knowledge from a young age, Alena is highly sought-after as a teacher, and has been part of the flute and/or chamber music faculties at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Royal Conservatory The Hague, Junior Royal Academy of Music in London, Guildhall School of Music & Drama, City University of London and The Royal Danish Academy of Music.
