Wells Cathedral School Double Reed Day

Head of Woodwind Jenni Phillips and Cor Anglais Tutor Anna Cooper took all oboe and bassoon students to Wells Cathedral School in Somerset recently to support its Double Reed Day.

The aim of this event was for the pupils to meet and chat with other oboists and bassoonists. Students spent the day coaching young musicians to enrich their skills and musicianship.

They also helped deliver a reed-making workshop and rehearsed alongside the enthusiastic young musicians.

Jenni said: “It was a fabulous experience for our students and gave them a tremendous amount of confidence, even though some of them had only been students at RBC for three weeks!”

Second-year student Luke Cutler said: "The Double Reed Day was a fantastic event that was a great opportunity to help teach promising students, and to collaborate with many other talented double reeders."
