As ever, approaching Christmas presents the opportunity to reflect on the year coming to a close. Thankfully for Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, it’s been a year when we’ve finally resumed something that feels like business as usual after the disruption of the last two.
During the autumn term in particular, the RBC building has once again become a hive of activity – just as it should be! We’ve hosted a broad range of events and activities welcoming both new and returning audiences and visitors.
Meanwhile, following a move away from the City Centre Campus last January, much of our Acting provision has settled into its new main base in Bournville.
Scarcely a day of 2022 has gone by when I haven’t heard about the significant achievements of our wonderful students, both current and graduated, who are such fine ambassadors for RBC. We are proud of them all!
October brought with it the appointment of a new Principal for RBC, and we much look forward to welcoming Stephen Maddock when he takes up his post in May. I’d like to take the opportunity of my last Christmas missive to thank everyone who has supported me across a long period in the interim role – especially those colleagues who have stepped up into interim roles in turn.
Indeed, as we approach Christmas, I’m sending sincere thanks to all my colleagues for their continued hard work and commitment across 2022, as well as my heartfelt gratitude to all those outside RBC, including our valued audiences, who give us their sustained, loyal support.
Finally, I wish everyone very best wishes for a happy and enjoyable festive season, and, of course, a happy and healthy New Year!
Yours,
Shirley
