Postgraduate student Roman Kosyakov received a third prize in the Dublin International Piano Competition. The 12th Dublin International Piano Competition recently took place at the National Concert Hall in Dublin.

As well as his third Prize, Roman won The Bridget Doolan Prize of €1,500 (£1199.58) for the best performance of a piece by Mozart played in any round of the Competition.

For over 30 years, the Dublin International Piano Competition has brought the world’s top young pianists to Ireland to compete.

Roman said: “I’m really happy first of all, that I was able to be present at the competition in Dublin, considering all the circumstances and decisions that were made regarding Russian participants and difficulties with getting the visa.

“Secondly, I was pleased to get such a nice and appreciative response from the Irish audience and from the wonderful jury members, who are renowned and recognised musicians from all over the world. It’s a great honour to become a prize winner of the 12th Dublin International Piano Competition 2022.”
