A short film written by and featuring a number of RBC alumni has won Best Short, Short Comedy at The Cutting Room International Script and Short Film Festival in New York.

‘Hamster’ was written by 2018 BA Acting graduate Eric Mok and features 2020 BA Acting alumni Tomisin Ajani, Vivianne Sengati, Eleanor Jayne Homer and Jack Edwards. The short was filmed in Birmingham and directed by Senior Screen Acting Tutor and director of the BBC’s ‘Doctors’ Clifford Milner, with casting by Head of Undergraduate Studies (Acting) Daniele Sanderson and pre- and post-production by Conservatoire Acting Technician Simon Bloomfield.

‘Hamster’ follows Sam as she arrives home to find her Hamster has gone for a spin. But all is not as it seems.

The Cutting Room International Short Film Festival welcomes hundreds of Indie filmmakers each year and focuses on emerging, yet overlooked filmmakers. This year’s event took place online in December and celebrates the best of independent cinema.
