UNIVERSITY NEWS LAST UPDATED : 06 JULY 2022

The Linbury Trust has pledged its support to RBC opera projects for the following three years. The significant award will help to develop the opera-making programme at RBC to train singers and musicians, as well as student costume and set designers, stage managers, photographers and animators. The funding will also help to reach new audiences in and around Birmingham.

The Linbury Trust awards millions of pounds to organisations across the world to support causes across a wide spectrum, from arts and heritage to culture and access to education.

Head of Vocal Studies Paul Wingfield said: “We’re thrilled to receive this significant support from one of the UK’s leading philanthropic bodies, the Linbury Trust. The generous offer made by the trust will allow us to continue developing our opera-making programme.

“The support is a wonderful vote of confidence not only in the departmental work, which has now followed a faculty-wide collaborative template for three years, but also in the work of the Learning and Participation Team. Its work with local communities will be essential as we bring opera to new audiences throughout the region.”
