Get to know who is driving RBC in this regular feature, Meet the RBC leadership team.

Head of Organ Studies Daniel Moult leads one of the most vibrant organ departments in the UK, with regular trips to Europe and visits from some of the best international organists. Daniel's career highlights have included commissioning five new organs for RBC, all thanks to the generosity of donors.

What are the core skills or areas of expertise that you bring to RBC?

I’m a busy, performing musician, so it’s a privilege to train and, hopefully, inspire the next generation. I’ve also been teaching, adjudicating and pursuing other musical things for twenty-something years, so I bring these areas of expertise to my work, too.

What have been your highlights since you started at RBC?

Commissioning five new organs for RBC has been a major highlight, all thanks to the wonderful generosity of various donors who believe in what we offer at RBC. And of course, we’re very proud of the many success stories of current students and our distinguished organist alumni.

What have been the most challenging issues that you’ve had to discuss and take a view on so far?

I’m pleased to say nothing of any significance, which is largely due to the wonderful staff and students. It really is a very happy and supportive place in which to work and thrive.

I think that, for all of us, finding fresh and creative ways to equip the next generation of musicians in a fast-changing world and profession is an exciting challenge. Building new audiences to enjoy and be fulfilled by our wonderful musical legacies is also vitally important. I’m also determined to build on the many thriving international links in our organ department.

What do you to outside of the role when you are not working?

I’m part time at RBC, so when I’m not working or travelling, a perfect day off involves a good novel, a countryside walk and a ferociously hot curry.
