Visiting Lecturer’s album release receives top reviews

Visiting Lecturer in Composition Luke Bedford, who has composed a series of award-winning works, recently released ‘In the Voices of the Living’, his first album on NMC Recordings.

NMC Recordings was set up with funding from the Holst Foundation to record, distribute and promote the music of contemporary composers from Britain and Ireland.

‘In the Voices of the Living’ brings together a selection of Luke’s orchestral and larger-scale chamber works that span the past 15 years of his career, which have been performed by some of the most renowned artists in the contemporary classical music world.

The album recently charted at number 15 in the Classical Music Specialist Charts and has been receiving excellent reviews.

Classical music magazine Gramophone said: “The quality of performances, as of performers, says much for the respect in which Bedford’s music is held. Aficionados and newcomers alike should investigate this release."

This week, BBC Music Magazine said: "A brilliant showcase for a unique imagination."

Luke commented: “I am delighted that the recordings with NMC have been so warmly received. It was incredible to work with so many amazing musicians, and I would like to thank the generous supporters who made it happen.”
