Laura Farré Rozada receives award

Catalan pianist, mathematician, PhD student at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and BBC Music Magazine 'Rising Star' Laura Farré Rozada has received the Mathematics and Society Award 2023 for her radio show ‘La cinta de Möbius’ on music and mathematics.

The radio show is broadcast by Catalunya Música (Catalan National Radio), and the award was bestowed by the Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer Foundation and the Institute of Catalan Studies.

The Award aims to recognise a significant contribution to disseminating mathematics to a mainstream audience.

‘La cinta de Möbius’ is dedicated to connecting music and mathematics, and each episode consists of conversations with different guests, discussing a different connection between these disciplines.

Laura is the director, scriptwriter and host. This multidisciplinary approach of connecting music and mathematics is also in her PhD thesis that she’s submitting this year.
