‘La Folia’, a release for our curious times

Ensemble La Notte, a Baroque chamber group including RBC alumni Mark Wilson on bassoon, Kate Allsop on recorders, and current MMus student Mary Walton on cello, has released its second recording ‘La Folia’ today (Friday).

The recording has been released today to coincide with the anniversary of the death of Georg Philipp Telemann, the German Baroque composer and multi-instrumentalist, and at a time when the world is grappling with the chaos of a global pandemic.

‘La Folia’ or madness is a selection of Baroque repertoire chosen for its themes of chaos madness and the bizarre, including music by Vivaldi, Telemann, Handel, LeStrange and Rebel.

Alumni Mark and Kate will be playing at RBC’s Early Music Department’s summer festival in July.
