Music lovers are invited to tune up for a Double Bass Day taking place next month at Birmingham Conservatoire.
In collaboration with newly appointed International Chair in Double Bass Thomas Martin, guest artist Cathy Elliott and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO), Double Bass Day will provide an insight into what it's like to study double bass at one of the UK's leading conservatoires of music.
All bassists are welcome to attend the free event, which takes place on Sunday 3 November and will include ensemble work, recitals and masterclasses with double bass tutors.
Louise Lansdown, Head of Strings at Birmingham Conservatoire, part of Birmingham City University, said: "We're really looking forward to welcoming double bassists to join us in celebrating this unique and wonderful instrument.
"There will be sessions for double bassists of all levels and ages, with the day ending with a mass double bass ensemble where everyone will be invited to participate."
Double Bass Day runs from 10.00am until 6pm and visitors are encouraged to register in advance.
