Presenters and crew from hit Channel 5 show The Gadget Show visited Royal Birmingham Conservatoire recently to film a special report into audio tech.
Using the recording studio suite and the Lab for an afternoon of filming, stars Craig Charles and Ortis Deley were advised by expert Dr Islah Ali-MacLaughlan, Course Leader in Sound Engineering and Music Technology at the School of Computing and Digital Technology, and heard from a string quartet featuring Simmone Viljoen (violin), Chian Chian Hsu (cello), Carla Mendoza Trejo (viola) and Charlotte Hand (violin); all current students at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
Speaking after the shoot, co-presenter Ortis said, “I was very impressed with the facilities; the team were so accommodating and Izzy is a sound superstar!”
Director Jess Matthews said, “As always, the team at Birmingham City University were hugely helpful, and a pleasure to work with. The state-of-the-art venues and recording studios at the Conservatoire were the perfect location for our audio tech shoot in which to gain some fascinating insight into the performance of our gadgets.”
The report is due to be broadcast on Channel 5 on Wednesday 24 November.
