Fitzroy Quartet wins Royal Over-Seas League prize

The Fitzroy Quartet

Associate Ensemble the Fitzroy Quartet won first prize at the Royal Over-Seas League Annual Music Competition this week in the string ensemble category.

The ensemble received £10,000 and will perform at the Royal Over-Seas League Annual Music Competition Gold Medal Final at Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre on Monday 1 June.

The quartet triumphed over three other ensembles with their performance of a programme of Frank Bridge’s Phantasy in F sharp minor for Piano Quartet H.94 and the finale from Schumann’s Piano Quartet in E flat major op.47 alongside pianist Roman Kosyakov

The Quartet has been an Associate Ensemble at the Conservatoire since September 2017.
