Carnatic vocalist Dr Radhika Balakrishnan has been formally presented with an Honorary Fellowship from RBC.
Dr Balakrishnan was honoured with the award at a ceremony held at The Bradshaw Hall, recognising her significant contributions to arts, culture and education, as well as her work in bringing Indian classical music into contemporary global learning environments.
Honorary Fellowship awards honour musicians and professionals from the world of theatre, screen or broadcasting, as well as graduates or individuals who have made a significant contribution to the work and life of RBC through professional or voluntary work.
Dr Radhika Balakrishnan said: "Receiving the Honorary Fellowship is an honour that extends far beyond me. It represents recognition for the transformative power of Indian classical music in global artistic discourse."
Speaking on her achievement, RBC Principal Stephen Maddock said: "It gives me great pleasure to honour Radhika with this award. Her achievements as a distinguished Carnatic vocalist and teacher, combined with her unwavering commitment to supporting our students and bringing Indian music into the core of RBC’s work, have been transformative."
