Royal Birmingham Conservatoire recently hosted the 2023 British Double Reed Society (BDRS) Festival.
The festival welcomed 85 double reed players of all ages from around the country onto Birmingham City University’s City Centre Campus.
The festival included masterclasses, concerts, reed making, trade stands, talks, interviews, side by side ensembles and much more.
Head of Woodwind Jenni Phillips said: “We were thrilled to be asked to host the BDRS festival. I would like to publicly thank our double reed tutors at RBC for their incredible and inspiring work throughout the day.
“It was an action-packed day, and the building was buzzing! It is a rare sight to see so many oboists and bassoonists in one building, and I know from talking to lots of visitors, that they were delighted with the day.
Chair of the BDRS James Turnbull said: “Everyone at BDRS was blown away by the incredible facilities and atmosphere that the staff brought to the busy day.”
