Lovers of double bass are invited to attend Double Bass Day, a music event to be held next month at Birmingham Conservatoire.

In collaboration with Sparks, workshop days delivered by City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) that focus on specific instruments, Double Bass Day will provide an insight into what it’s like to study double bass at one of the UK’s leading conservatoires of music.

All bassists are welcome to attend the event, which takes place on Sunday 11 November and will include ensemble work, recitals and masterclasses with music tutors.

Louise Lansdown, Head of Strings at Birmingham Conservatoire, part of Birmingham City University, said: “Double Bass Day promises to be an inspirational and action packed event. We’re looking forward to welcoming double bassists of all levels and ages to celebrate this unique instrument, its protagonists and fascinating repertoire.”

Double Bass Day runs from 10.30am until 5pm and visitors are encouraged to register in advance or visiting www.bcu.ac.uk/conservatoire.
