Birmingham Conservatoire got all loved up on Tuesday (14 February), as four of our students performed as part of BBC WM’s mass vow renewal event - From WM with Love.
The renewal of marriage or partnership vows took place at New Street railway station at 11am and the music was provided by a student string quartet (pictured) encompassing:
- Risa Sekine, first violinist, aged 19
- Juliet Haley, second violinist, aged 18
- Emily Dore, viola, aged 20
- Flora McNicoll, cello, aged 19.
The event was the first of its kind hosted by BBC WM and encouraged couples of all faiths, whether married or in a civil partnership, to come together and renew their vows of commitment to one another. The non- religious service was conducted by Penny Fulford, Superintendent Registrar from Dudley council, and available for anyone to take part in.
BBC presenter Danny Kelly broadcast the ceremony live on air and each couple were given a special certificate to mark the occasion and the opportunity to talk about their love story live on air. Large crowds gathered as more than 30 couples renewed their vows and the quartet took centre stage to showcase their talent with an amazing live performance in the foyer of the station.
