RBC is delighted to announce that its music student in residence with Birmingham Royal Ballet (BRB) and the Royal Ballet Sinfonia (RBS) for 2022-23 is Alex Hocknull.

Alex is a final-year French Horn student and will be continuing his studies at RBC next year studying for his PgCert.

During his time at RBC, he has studied and had masterclasses with an illustrious roll call of renowned horn players. This includes Simon de Souza, Elspeth Dutch, Jeremy Bushell, Sarah Willis, John Ryan and RBS’s very own principal horn, Andrew Littlemore.

Alex said: "I am delighted to be joining the RBS as their new student in residence. Having seen the BRB productions and been taught by some of the orchestra’s brass players, it has long been an ambition of mine to work with them.

"I am very grateful to the RBS for giving me the chance to play with them, and to learn the skill of orchestral playing from their tremendous horn section. Everyone from the ballet has been so friendly and encouraging, and I cannot wait to get started with this fantastic opportunity."
