Beetung is the Assistant Director of Postgraduate Studies (Director of International Student Support Programme) at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. She joined the staff as International Student Mentor in 2014, soon after completing her master’s degree here. The learning experience of international students is central to Beetung’s work: she has developed Royal Birmingham Conservatoire’s International Student Support Programme, leading workshops that provide both pastoral and academic support to hundreds of international students at the Conservatoire each year.

Beetung’s interests also lie in music education and experience in Higher Education in south-east Asia (China, in particular). Her PgCert thesis explored ways of enhancing the student experience by incorporating blended learning techniques in her teaching to a group of international students. Her next research project seeks to investigate instrumental teaching in Higher Education in the UK, with a focus on one-to-one relationships between the conservatoire teacher and international students from China.

Beetung was awarded Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in 2017.
