After completing his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Criminology at Birmingham City University (BCU), Max took up the position of research assistant in the Social Research and Evaluation Unit at BCU. During this time, he also worked as a visiting lecturer in Criminology at Staffordshire University. In 2019 Max took the position of Lecturer in Criminology at the University of Worcester, before returning to BCU in 2021.

Currently, Max is an early career researcher and a Lecturer in Criminology at Birmingham City University, covering a range of topics such as Crime and the Media, Cybercrime, Research Methods, and Applied Investigative Techniques. He also supervises research projects at both undergraduate and master's level of study. Max was previously the alumni lead for Criminology and is currently the Personal Tuition lead for undergraduate Criminology at BCU.

Max’s areas of interest surround violence, media, Criminological Theory, and technological advancements within the context of late consumer-capitalism, and he has published within the areas of crime and media, deviant leisure, and serial murder. He is currently set to begin his PhD in February 2024, exploring consumptions of violence in online spaces.
