Shostakovich and His World: LANO Quartet
Alan George masterclass on Shostakovich Quartet No.13
Alan George is a founding member of the Fitzwilliam Quartet, through which he met and collaborated with Dmitri Shostakovich. The Fitzwilliam Quartet gave the Western premieres of the last three of Shostakovich’s quartets, with the composer present for the premiere of the 13th quartet in 1972. They later became the first quartet to perform and record all fifteen quartets.
