Performance from 3.30pm – 5pm
Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and The Martin Schellenberg Music Trust invite you to join our Come and Sing: Messiah event. We are opening our doors to singers of all abilities and backgrounds to join us for a performance of this iconic work.
You will join a chorus of performers for three short rehearsals starting at 10.00am on Saturday 6th December 2025, followed by a performance from 3.30-5.00pm. You will be accompanied by soloists and musicians from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, rehearsed and conducted by RBC’s own Choral Director, David Wynne.
Whether you have lots of experience in a choral setting or none at all, we look forward to seeing you for this exciting opportunity to sing on stage in RBC’s concert hall.
Scores (Watkin Shaw) (Novello) edition will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own.
The Martin Schellenberg Music Trust was created to honour the life and legacy of Birmingham-born Martin Schellenberg (1959-2021) an inspirational and much-loved teacher, choirmaster and organist.
Despite his international travels, Martin’s heart was always in Birmingham, and he was a graduate of Birmingham Conservatoire (organ), organist at St Augustine in Edgbaston, and later in his career worked closely with CBSO’s Children’s Choir.
The Martin Schellenberg Music Trust now philanthropically supports young musicians originating or studying in Birmingham, including organists and vocalists at RBC. Proceeds from this Come and Sing event will add to the Martin Schellenberg Bursary at RBC, ensuring more young musicians can benefit from career defining tuition at RBC.
