Cecil Mackinnon

Cecil MacKinnon is a visiting tutor, leading the summer course, Comedy in Shakespeare. She is one of the most experienced Linklater voice teachers, an actor, director and clown. 

As an Actress, with Section Ten: New York Monster Show, with Shaliko Company in residence at La Mama: Midnight Visitor, Whirligig,  Dr Faustus, regionally, Cincinnati, Playhouse in the Park, and with Shakespeare and Co., Lenox Mass. The Tempest, Comedy of Errors,(Adriana) Romeo and Juliet (Nurse), Midsummer Night’s Dream (Hippolyta).  

As Director, with Shakespeare and Co: Loves Labours Lost, Twelfth Night, Romeo and Juliet, Comedy of Errors on the Main stage, Goodnight Desdemona, One Acts, All’s Well that Ends Well on the smaller stages.  Most recently in New York:  Life is a Dream, Calderon, at Portland Stage, Much Ado About Nothing and On the Razzle, by Tom Stoppard in Wisconsin. Benjamin Britten’s Midsummer Night’s Dream at Naples Opera.

As circus performer, Pickle Family Circus, and currently, Circus Flora, where as director and white-face clown she has created shows in the twelve hundred seat circus tent and in collaboration with the St Louis Symphony at Powell Hall.  

As a teacher, she is currently an Arts Professor at ETW,  NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
