Brothers Olly and BMus (Hons) Jazz alumnus Elliot Sansom launched Spotlight on Birmingham recently, amplifying Birmingham's emerging voices by offering artists the opportunity to apply for free workshops and interviews recorded at Sansom Studios.
Founded by brothers Olly and Elliott Sansom, Sansom Studios is a musician-led recording space in Birmingham, designed to help people make the best music they can. This includes recording full bands live, building a track layer by layer or getting a mix and master ready for release.
Since graduating from RBC in 2016 , Elliot has been a BBC Young Jazz Musician finalist and signed with Decca Records. Now, he and his brother are offering artists a space to be heard, to grow and to connect with their Spotlight on Birmingham project.
To enter the Spotlight on Birmingham project, which is funded by Arts Council England, applicants must submit examples and links to their work, as well as a short statement and an artist biography.
Six successful applicants will have access to a professionally filmed live session and an artist interview, recorded at Sansom Studios.
Reflecting on the brothers’ work, Lecturer in Jazz Ed Puddick commented: "Birmingham is lucky to have Sansom Studios as part of the musical landscape of the city. All the jazz department is fully supportive of their new Spotlight on Birmingham programme.
“Our graduates should be queuing up to record their next album at Sansom Studios."
