The 14 semi-finalists for our upcoming Cecil Aronowitz International Viola Competition have been announced.
Taking place 24-26 October 2014 at Birmingham Conservatoire, the competition attracted a flood of entries from all over the world.

“The standard of DVDs we received was astounding, but unfortunately there were limited places available in the semi-final round,” says Birmingham Conservatoire’s Head of Strings Dr Louise Lansdown.
“We’d like to thank everyone who entered for their interest in this new and exciting competition. It has reassured all of us of the incredible viola talent across the world.“
The Cecil Aronowitz International Viola Competition was jointly organised by Birmingham Conservatoire and the British Viola Society, and named after the late, great South African-born violist Cecil Aronowitz.

The Orchestra of the Swan Concerto Prize will be awarded to the winner of the Cecil Aronowitz International Viola Competition. Also included are performances in the Stratford ArtsHouse and the Birmingham Town Hall. A £500 fee and repertoire are to be mutually agreed.
