RBC Collaborative Doctoral Awards

UNIVERSITY NEWS LAST UPDATED : 28 OCTOBER
Midlands 4 Cities

Applications are now open for two Collaborative Doctoral Awards to be held at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

The first award is in partnership with renowned vocal ensemble Ex Cathedra. As part of the project ‘Giving New Voices to Old Music: Baroque Vocal Music with Ex Cathedra’ the doctoral researcher will create critical editions of hitherto unedited choral works from the period 1580-1740 and will work with Ex Cathedra to explore issues of performance practice in this repertoire.

The second award is in partnership with innovative theatre company Stan’s Cafe. The aim of this project ‘Composition as a Workplace Intervention: Adding value to Stan’s Cafe’ is to examine the possibilities of ‘inserting’ a composer into the organisation of an established artistic company, so they can observe and relate to not only the artistic output of the company, but also day-to-day operational activities.

These doctoral awards are open on a competitive basis to UK and international students, who already hold a first-class degree and a qualification at Master’s level (distinction, or predicted distinction).

Further details for both awards are available here: https://www.midlands4cities.ac.uk/find-a-project/.
