Birmingham Record Company’s recent release, Quiet Wild, features work from PhD composition students and graduates.
All music on the album is performed by Timothy Lines on clarinet, Rose Redgrave on viola and David Quigley on piano.
Quiet Wild opens with Visiting Lecturer Dr Aidan Teplitzky’s composition Wuthering Derive, inspired by Kate Bush’s Wuthering Heights.
Quiet Wild continues to feature songs from PhD composers Francesca Fargion, Chloe Knibbs, Chang Ge, James McIlwrath and Nicholas Olsen.
Quiet Wild aims to capture Birmingham’s distinct musical identity and is available to listen to on the Birmingham Record Company website.
Dr Aidan Teplitzky commented: “This is an incredibly exciting release, showcasing the diverse creativity of RBC’s researchers and shining a light on the distinct musical landscape of Birmingham.”
Head of Composition Joe Cutler added: “I’m very excited about this new release, exhibiting the compelling artistic voices of our immensely talented PhD composers to the wider public.”
