A graduate from Birmingham Conservatoire, part of Birmingham City University, has released her first EP with one of the world’s biggest record labels.

25-year-old Laura Mvula, from Moseley in Birmingham, graduated with a degree in Composition from Birmingham Conservatoire in 2008 and went on to put her degree skills to work in the music industry.

Alongside Alicia Keys, Usher and JLS, Laura is signed to one of Sony Music Entertainment’s flagship labels, RCA Records, and supported fellow RCA artist Rebecca Ferguson at the iTunes Festival 2012 earlier this year.

Laura’s music has made her one the UK’s most sought-after new artists and tipped as one-to-watch in 2013, featuring as ‘Fearne’s Big Thing’ on Fearne Cotton’s Radio 1 show.

Joe Cutler, Head of Composition at Birmingham Conservatoire, said: "We're so delighted to see how well Laura is doing. She really is a special talent and her success is richly deserved."

Laura’s debut EP, ‘She’, is available now.
