Professors Graham Sadler and Shirley Thompson, Dr Carrie Churnside and Visiting Research Fellow Dr Michael Robertson recently returned from the 20th Biennial International Conference on Baroque Music hosted by the Haute école de musique Genève.

This conference, which drew scholars and performers from all over the world, included more than 130 presentations covering the period from Claudio Monteverdi to J S Bach.

The RBC contingent delivered papers relating to their research on specific French, Italian and German topics, and took on the role of conference Chairs. All four were members of the conference’s Peer Review Committee.

Vice Principal for Music Professor Shirley Thompson commented: “RBC is an important centre for research into music of the 17th and 18th Centuries, and having a presence at this large-scale biennial conference is a key way of drawing wide attention to this aspect of our musicological expertise.”
