RBC was deeply saddened by the passing of legendary Black Sabbath frontman and Birmingham native Ozzy Osbourne, at the age of 76. The Osbourne family announced his death last week (Tuesday 22 July), just weeks after the band's emotional farewell concert at Villa Park.

Ozzy made his final journey through Birmingham this week (Wednesday 30 July), with Learning and Participation Assistant Aaron Diaz’s (pictured) band, Bostin Brass, leading the procession down Broad Street.

Funded by the Osbourne Family, the procession was a chance for the city to pay its last respects to the heavy metal legend from Aston. Fans travelled to Birmingham from across the world to see the cortege move through the city.
Floral tributes, which had been laid down by fans in Ozzy’s honour by the Black Sabbath bench on Broad Street, were added to by an emotional widow Sharon Osbourne.

Aaron’s band, Bostin Brass, played music as the cortege made its way along Broad Street.

Speaking to BBC Midlands Today ahead of the event, Aaron commented: "We're really going to enjoy paying a fitting tribute to him and being part of the crowd of thousands that's going to turn out on the day."
